Joining Catalyst 2030 provides social innovators who share a deep sense of urgency to solve this century’s growing human and environmental crisis with the opportunity to find each other, build relationships and co-create solutions to these challenges.

Catalyst 2030 members share a conviction that it is only by moving outside of our silos that we can truly unleash the potential for global systems change. If you are an innovator, enjoy collaboration with diverse groups of people, have experiences to share and a hunger to learn from and join forces with others, then Catalyst 2030 is the place for you.

Membership Application

Application Received

Our Selection team will receive your application and review it. Due to the number of applications this process might take up to two weeks.

Contact Follow-up

The Selection team might email you to get to know you and your work better. We will follow up for 2 months if we are not able to get in contact your application will be put on pause.

Application Reviewed

The Selection Committee is made up of a diverse group of Catalyst 2030 members who will review your application and make a decision based on the information you shared with us in the previous steps. Due to the number of applications this process could take up to a month.

Application Decision Communicated

The Selection Team will communicate the result of your application process via email.

Onboarding

If you are accepted you will be invited to join an interactive onboarding session. The Catalyst 2030 membership onboarding journey is an interesting and engaging process to help you to expand your knowledge and enhance your skills as a social innovator.

As a social entrepreneur or innovator who may be working across a range of sectors from government and business to academia and the donor community, you are invited to join our fast-growing global movement. This will assist you in building networks of diverse people and organisations who are united in collective action to progress the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

New members will participate in an interactive onboarding session. This will be your first opportunity to interact with other members and leaders over Zoom. As a member, you will have access to our online platforms where you can interact with other social innovators from around the world, make new friends and expand your networks. These are essential to creating lasting systems-level change.

Membership Engagement

Once you have attended the membership onboarding session you will be invited to participate in a group or a one-to-one Zoom call with a Membership Team Facilitator before being invited to participate in our membership engagement opportunities:

  • Peer Support
  • Learning and Capacity Building

Ways members benefit

Membership is open to all individuals and organisations who are working on solutions to progress the SDGs. Our members include for-profit and non-profit social enterprises, civil society, funders, businesses, academics, intermediaries, media organisations, government departments and technical assistance providers.

Personal level

Grow deep personal connections with changemakers worldwide as you engage in collaborative work to help shift the dominant culture and uphold Catalyst 2030’s core values. Support each other’s work and wellbeing in a collaborative and supportive space.

Organisational level

Engage with a like-minded community of people and organisations who work together to achieve lasting social change in the world. Create and collaborate on innovative and impactful projects to help progress the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

System Level

Join a global movement of people and organisations that engage in collective action towards achieving the SDGs by 2030. Enterprising for value creation to influence social, government and economic systems at all levels, shifting the dominant culture, and influencing the practices of communities, governments, funders and corporations.

Membership application guidelines

The four main considerations when approving an application for membership include the applicant’s:

  1. Commitment to creating lasting solutions to achieve the SDGs;
  2. Working towards adopting systems change approaches (i.e. addressing root causes of problems);
  3. Application of or commitment to using collaborative approaches in the SDG pursuit; and
  4. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The four approval criteria encompass:

  • Mission alignment: The organisation (or individual) is actively involved in practices or projects that align with the movement’s goal of attaining the SDGs.
  • Social entrepreneurship and related expertise: Applicants must have some knowledge and skills in the field of social entrepreneurship. Understanding of social change and/or the skills that drive or support social change processes will be preferable.
  • Impact experience / Impact growth potential: An organisation (or individual) has a track record of impacting change in communities, organisations, industries or sectors. Alternatively, if the desired outcomes have not yet been achieved, a readiness to develop effective systems change impacts will be considered.
  • Relevant networks: An organisation (or individual) is engaging actively with social change networks or collaborations. These networks refer to underserved communities, professionals, experts or impact investors who are working in the social change field.

How do I apply to become a member?

If you are ready to engage, review the membership application guidelines and then fill out the membership application form.

What happens if my application is accepted?

You will be invited to attend an Induction Session during which we will share more information about the existing engagement and collaboration opportunities, our Chapter and network initiatives. You will also be invited to our monthly General Assembly and have the opportunity to connect with fellow Catalyst 2030 members.

What activities can I join as a member?

You will have many opportunities to collaborate. These include being involved in working groups and collaboration teams as volunteers. You can reach out and connect with potential collaborators who share your interests and objectives. You can also participate in numerous membership engagement and collaboration events.

What can I expect as a member of Catalyst 2030?

  • Be a part of an inclusive organisation, representing a cross-section of the social entrepreneur ecosystem.
  • Identify avenues to collaborate with members, who have a shared value system and come from diverse backgrounds, including members of NGOs, social entrepreneurs, funders, corporates, academics, innovators and philanthropists. Connect, share, learn and accelerate impact on the SDGs together.
  • Gain opportunities to build meaningful partnerships and co-create strategies with thought leaders and change agents to facilitate systems change.
  • Make new friends from around the world.

Is Catalyst 2030 a funder?

No. Catalyst is not a funder.

However, the Secretariat is building a set of available fundraising resources and a programme of practical workshops to support members.

Do members pay a membership fee or any other charge?

No. However, you are expected to reciprocate with your time, talent and ideas in collaboration with other members.

Can a non-member engage with Catalyst 2030? If yes, how?

Yes, a non-member is welcome to engage with Catalyst 2030. This engagement could be through:

  • Partnering in our members’ collaborations and projects
  • Donating/fundraising for Catalyst 2030 initiatives
  • Spreading awareness about Catalyst 2030
  • Providing pro-bono support in a specific area of expertise /core competency
  • Contributing relevant ways in advocating the message of Catalyst 2030
  • The individual is encouraged to fill out the contact form to engage with the Secretariat.

What are the stages of membership?

Once you submit your membership application, our membership team will review it and present it to the Selection & Onboarding Committee who will evaluate the fit based on the membership criteria. The committee will take a decision on your application. Upon approval, you will be invited to an Induction Session that will officially mark the start of your membership journey at Catalyst 2030.

For the first 6 months after the induction, you will become an Associate Member and will be exposed to different engagement opportunities and groups. At the end of the Associate Phase and on condition of your active engagement within the network, you will become a Full Member and the organisation will be showcased on our member list.

I am a student, can I join Catalyst 2030?

Undergraduate and graduate students who have started a social venture that is working to achieve the SDGs are welcome to apply to Catalyst 2030.

If your university is a member of C2030, students are able to join events and meetings. Individuals who are interested in learning more are welcome to join open events like the annual Catalysing Change Week.

Unfortunately, we do not accept members under the age of 18. You are welcome to attend sessions with a parent organisation who is a member of Catalyst 2030.
