Catalyst 2030 is a global movement of more than 1,600 social entrepreneurs and social impact leaders from Ashoka, Echoing Green, the Schwab Foundation, the Skoll Foundation and other global networks of social innovators. The movement was founded in 2020 in response to research carried out by the Social Progress Imperative which showed at the current pace of progress, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) would only be achieved in 2074. Catalyst 2030 members believe that with collaboration this pace can be accelerated. By joining forces, greater impact can be accelerated.

The network operates locally, nationally, regionally and globally. It aims to strengthen collaboration across and between civil society, multilateral organisations, social enterprises, impact investors, business and governments. Our goal is to scale up existing, proven, successful solutions for systemic change and thereby accelerate the impact that will help to achieve the SDGs by 2030.

About the Systems Learning Team

Catalyst 2030 offers the Intern the opportunity to work with young people from various countries and to challenge themselves within the context of a vibrant and growing movement. The ideal candidate is a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree student or someone who recently graduated with a background in international relations / affairs, international law, international development, social sciences or similar. The Systems Change Learning Team was established in early 2021 to stimulate an ongoing evolution of a learning ecosystem by and for social innovators. Our primary goal is to provide rich opportunities for shared learning and create a collective learning community to inform best practices. The team works closely with social entrepreneurs and innovators, governments and civil society to shift the dominant culture and paradigms to enable systemic change. To learn and teach how to achieve this change, the systems learning group develops the monthly Catalytic Systems Learning Series, focusing on diverse topics, building the Catalyst Academy certification programme and curating resources.

The Systems Change Learning Working Group recognises the complexity of systems change and brings together academics and social entrepreneurs to promote a sustainable culture of systems change, while advancing research, informing curricular offerings and influencing practice, education and policies.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the development of the Social Change Innovators online knowledge resource portal, systems change learning materials and materials for collaborations
• Assisting and supporting the Social Change Innovators collaboration including group meetings from calendar planning and agenda setting to taking minutes and sending follow-up emails
• Assisting with mapping the social entrepreneurship ecosystem through research and partnerships, compiling data in excel spreadsheets and contributing to integrating member and partner research with the Social Change Innovators platform
• Coordinating and / or supporting systems change events and workshops as part of the Systems Change Learning Series
• Creating, editing and updating documents for various group purposes
• Fostering relations with members within the Catalyst 2030 network and within the online platform
• Working as an active part of the Systems Learning Team, supporting the work of other teams across the Catalyst 2030 Secretariat
• Assisting with projects, including organising events focused on systems change learning involving social entrepreneurs and their peers, which may include internal events like Catalysing Change Week or external partner events
• Working closely with the team, planning, organising and coordinating strategic engagement at international conferences and events
• Other ad hoc tasks

Requirements and Skills

• An active interest in global issues and challenges, their complexity and nuances
• Preference for those currently undertaking their academic studies, such as undergraduate students
• Proactive in seeking out solutions and pre-empting challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Confident presentation abilities, project management skills and the ability to engage with different stakeholders and partners
• Proven organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and across time zones
• Flexible, with an open mind and easily adaptable to take on new tasks at short notice
• Interest in and experience with researching and ecosystems mapping
• Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing environments
• Attention to details and willingness to learn from experience
• Desire to work collaboratively in a team, with a positive attitude and ability to rise to challenges
• This position is remote and can be carried out from most regions that have some overlap with CET working hours
• Fluency in English, preference for another UN language
• Ability to work with cultural sensitivity in a multicultural and global digital environment
• Hands-on attitude, flexibility and willingness to help if required

Deadline

Current applications are being accepted on a rolling basis, typically Fall, Winter, and Summer internships. We interview and accept interns on a regular basis. Interns are employed on a full-time basis for six months.

After the COVID-19 pandemic we adopted a distributed organisational model with the ability to hire a diverse team, while in-office work activities are available to those living close to our main office in Harlem in the Netherlands.
